We have recently acquired a host of California Fractional gold coins. Many of the coins were recently certified with PCGS and NGC before coming to the market. These gold coins are the smallest gold denominations ever produced for money in the United States. All are privately made coins that were used in the burgeoning west while there was a shortage of coins for change. Before the San Francisco mint opened in 1854, gold was the currency in California and many of these coins were used in commerce. After the mint opened, the later issues were made more as novelties but still carried a denomination. Eventually, in 1882, the US Mint took issue with its competition and had fractional gold coin production halted. If so inspired, there are hundreds of varieties of California Factional gold coins to collect. Popular examples of type sets include sets based on size, shape(round, octagonal) and/or denomination(25c, 50c, 1dol). No matter which way you choose to collect California Fractional coins,  we have a great opportunity in the ability to offer you around 100 different coins to choose from. Enjoy the hunt and take advantage of the selection we have to offer.
