1897M Australia Gold 1 Sovereign KM#13 NGC XF-40 Samaszko’s Carson City Gold Hoard Label. This coin was part of Samaszko’s Carson City Gold Hoard, a massive collection of gold coins belonging to the recluse Walter Samaszko Jr., which was discovered in his Carson City, Nevada, home in 2012 after his death. The hoard was valued at over $7 million and was found hidden in ammunition boxes in his garage, containing thousands of coins from various countries. The sole heir, a distant cousin named Arlene Magdanz, eventually inherited the fortune after the coins were sold at auction. There are some minor scuffs on the NGC holder. 0.2355 oz AGW.
